Hi Running Clam
Many thanks for this helpful review. I have ordered the Canon 720IS, one reason being that the optical viewfinder is better suited to my 73 year old eyesight.
I'll let you know how I get on with it. Won't stop using the Canon T90 slr though, it's just a bit big for everyday use.

I've read a lot of reports and opinions this weekend. U.S. news both leftist's and rightist's, British BBC, Georgian, Osetian, Russian. I've read blogs of many people from U.S., Russia, Georgia and S.Osetia. As far as I can judge, BBC and Reuters are among the most neutral sources while Russian/Osetian and Georgian are drawn into the propaganda war.

May be I'm still laging events, but there is no bombing in Tbilisi. Russian forses are striking georgian artillery positions, and made precize strike on ammunition depot in Ghori (georgian place). Of course, there was some shell recession. But I have to note, that there are still precize bombing, instead of carpet bombing, as some stupid asses appeal.
Georgian soldiers admit they have no chanse against Russia, but they have to do their best. Georgian government are real criminals.

P.S. If you mind my commenting, just say, because it may look like flood. I'm just want people know thant everything can be different of what TV says.

But still, as I can see from headline, you're getting information from CNN or BBC, because what you call as "war in Georgia", our mass media call "war in South Osetia", feel the difference.

As I have read, those companies claim "Russian intrusion" even after the UN submitted genocide of osetians from georgian side.

One of the first CNN pictures of events, showing "Russia shooting Georgia" were, in real, pictures of georgian mortars and artillerian mount "Grad", bombing Ckhinvali. Thousands of civillians dead and wounded under georgian bombardment, lot's of them - citizens of Russia.

And, if you understand russian - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVrygbUzazA - "BBC lies to us".

Quoting one of comments: "This is not fake, THEY SHOW OSSETIAN PEOPLE AND TALK TO THEM IN RUSSIAN MEDIA. YET WESTERN MEDIA ONLY SHOWS WHAT GEORGIAN SIDE SAYS".

Anyhow, you should not fully trust to any of mass media, because they are used to control your way of thinking. Think yourself. Politics sucks.

When publishing mass median news, your government want to spread, you have to understand, which emotions this could rise in people reading you. And not all of them, before obey their emotions, will think about if they are ready to kill and die for the needs of gang of fat asses.

Sorry for pathos, but it is really serious trend is having place in Osetia.

Russians have confirmed that they've lost two warplanes. Georgians talking about 10 warplanes taken down. Well, while the latter number is quite controversial, the former one is confirmed by Russians.
